This study conducts a comparative and retrospective analysis of the communication strategies used to promote Cristóbal Balenciaga's temporary exhibitions between 2015 and 2022. The elements used in its communication plans were identified through semi-structured interviews with the communication directors of 16 international exhibition spaces and with the communications director of the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa. The analysis revealed that museums do not employ transmedia strategies, which results in a unilateral communication policy that limits participation in social networks and engagement with the narrative of the exhibitions. The lack of a multichannel strategy reduces the media impact of a powerful brand like Balenciaga. To mitigate this gap, it is suggested that communication strategies be defined to promote the participation and commitment of visitors, who can contribute their content and share the narrative of the exhibitions on their social networks.
