Planning a territory’s future under sustainability criteria constitutes a complex challenge, particularly within current context of global transformation characterized by uncertainty and the need for adaptive responses. Within this framework, territorial planning must aim to generate strategies capable of addressing emerging social, economic, and environmental challenges. Real Sitio de San Ildefonso is a peri-urban space located between Segovia and Madrid and presents unique conditions that demand an innovative and creative approach. Its diverse and plentiful monumental and environmental heritage, together with its residential appeal and a diversified economy, position it as a territory with high potential for integrated development policies implementation. Furthermore, its consolidated connectivity with major urban centers reinforces its strategic role as a tourist destination and as a space for territorial cohesion. Consequently, Real Sitio de San Ildefonso represents an ideal laboratory for designing and promoting sustainable development models in both urban and regional contexts.
