Editorial Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Introduction
This policy outlines the guidelines for the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the creation, review, and publication of scientific articles in this journal. Its aim is to uphold the principles of transparency, integrity, originality, and respect for intellectual property within the field of academic research.
The journal reserves the right to request further clarification regarding the use of AI in submitted manuscripts, as well as to reject papers that fail to comply with these guidelines.
- Use of AI in Writing and Content Analysis
Authors must explicitly declare any use of AI tools in the writing, editing, translation, data analysis or graphic content generation processes within the manuscript.
If generative AI models (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, DALL·E, among others) are used, the specific tool and extent of its application must be detailed in the acknowledgements section or the methodology section of the article.
It is also recommended to cite the AI tool in the references section, following a format such as:
OpenAI. (2024). ChatGPT GPT-4o [Large language model]. OpenAI. https://chat.openai.com/chat
- Responsibility and Authorship
Artificial Intelligence cannot be listed as an author of any article. Full responsibility for the content, data, interpretations and conclusions lies solely with the human authors.
Authors must ensure that the use of AI does not compromise the originality or accuracy of the work, and must avoid any form of plagiarism, manipulation, unjustified bias, or misinformation.
- Use of AI in Peer Review
Reviewers may use AI tools only as a support in the analysis of manuscripts, but never to make final decisions regarding acceptance or rejection.
If AI is used during the review process, the reviewer must inform the editor of the tool used and the nature of the assistance provided.
- Use of AI by the Editorial Team
The editorial team may use AI tools for technical and administrative tasks, such as manuscript formatting, style checking, or automated plagiarism detection, always under direct human supervision to ensure consistency and publication quality.
- Ethical Considerations
The use of AI in the editorial context must align with the ethical principles of scientific research, including the protection of personal data, accuracy in information handling, and respect for intellectual property.
It is strictly prohibited to use AI tools to fabricate, falsify or manipulate scientific data, or to unduly alter research findings.
